Topics are routes, not categories. A page carries one to four of them, and a topic page gathers everything on the site that touches it, essays and terms and wiki entries in one place. The vocabulary is deliberately small and grows only when a real gap appears, because a list of two hundred keywords is a filing cabinet and this is meant to be a garden.
A topic is not the same as a page about the subject. Mortality gathers the corpus; a wiki entry on mortality would explain it. Both can exist and they do different work.
- Agency: action, responsibility, freedom, and response.
- Consciousness: awareness, reflexivity, witness, and selfhood.
- Ecology: living systems, multispecies relations, land, and interdependence.
- Modernity: colonial modernity, acceleration, mechanism, progress, and its endings.
- Mortality: finitude, death, grief, hospice, perishing, and completion.
- Politics: institutions, power, labor, activism, and collective decision.
- Practice: exercises, disciplines, pedagogy, and lived ways of working.
- Tending: the work’s central verb and its direct public elaborations.
- Time: temporality, timing, duration, acceleration, and temporal plurality.
